Douglass School Memory Quilt

The Bartlesville Area History Museum would like to announce an exciting acquisition recently added to the museums collections. Adolphus and Marlene J. Gilkey (Douglass School Alumni) of Fort Worth, TX have graciously donated a Douglassaires memory quilt made by Mrs. Gilkey, from Douglass School T-shirts. Beautifully arranged, trimmed and quilted by "Over the Top Quilting Studio", of Austin, Texas.

"Since we recently installed our current school exhibit; acquiring this quilt could not have been timed more perfectly. Right after the exhibit went up the museum received the Gilkey's contribution. This quilt made a wonderful addition to the corner that is devoted to the history of Douglass school, a major part of the history of Washington County Schools. We are delighted to have the opportunity for everyone in the community to share in this wonderful remembrance of students and faculty of Douglass School." said Education Coordinator, Kay Little.

To view the quilt and learn more of the history of Douglass school and other Washington County Schools, please visit the Bartlesville Area History Museum and see the exhibit, Gone But Not Forgotten, Over a Century of Washington County Education
